The LSHS wrestling team is in a bit of rebuild this year, but have still gotten off to a nice start despite graduating a lot of talent. The Rangers finished last year in 10th place at the UIL State Championships. This was due to two LSHS wrestlers making the championship finals.

Gone from this year's roster are a State Finalist (Michael Gaisoa), two regional placers (Naseer Willis and Aaron Earp), and three regional qualifiers (Cade Cowan, AJ Thuenemann, and Nick Gill). Those six put up a lot of points in their Ranger wrestling careers and were lost to graduation. Somewhat surprisingly, this year's team has not looked as depleted as one might suspect.

Led by returning State Finalist La'Stot Pleasant and returning Regional Placer Nick Woolston, the Rangers have started the season with a 5 - 1 dual mark and won their first district dual against Memorial. The LSHS wrestlers took second last weekend at the Heritage duals and almost won the tournament before dropping the last dual to Highland Park in the very last match of the day.

The Rangers hope to keep their early season momentum going with two dual tonight at 6:00pm against Liberty and Frisco high respectively. They will follow that up with a weekend appearance at the always tough War Games tournament at Memorial Saturday morning.
