Frisco ISD has hit two new highs in its football history the last two weeks.

Last week, FISD had three football teams in the regional semifinals for the first time in District history as Lone Star, Frisco and Independence played. On Friday, when Lone Star beat three-time defending state champion Highland Park, the Rangers gave FISD a total of seven playoff football wins this season – the most ever.

Having more high schools can help, but FISD’s total of four teams in the football playoffs is nothing new. The District also had four qualifiers in 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Lone Star (13-0) will next play Lancaster (11-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium. It could be a tremendous game, considering Lone Star beat Highland Park in overtime on Friday and Highland Park beat Lancaster in overtime earlier this season.
