How wild was Lone Star's 41-38 victory over The Colony on Friday night?

Well, there were nine lead changes in the matchup of unbeaten teams at The Colony's Tommy Briggs Stadium. Fortunately for the Rangers, the final lead change came on Jake Bogdon’s 55-yard touchdown run with 4:22 left in the game.

The win improved Lone Star to 7-0 on the season. The Rangers remain No. 1 in the 5A Division I state rankings after their first close game of the year.

Lone Star, which was excellent at limiting turnovers in its first six games, survived three turnovers against The Colony. Lone Star helped make up for its minus-3 in turnover ratio in the game by rushing for 285 yards in the game.

Bogdon led the way in that regard, piling up 210 yards and two touchdowns. Marvin Mims had a typically outstanding statistical line with six catches for 134 yards (22.3 yards per catch) and two touchdowns.

Because it was a high-scoring game, the Lone Star defense's contribution might get overlooked. But the Rangers' defense was actually critical to Lone Star overcoming its turnovers. The Lone Star defense forced four punts in the second half and stopped The Colony on fourth down on its final drive.

Lone Star returns to action on Friday (Oct. 25) with a game against Centennial at Toyota Stadium.
